Someone with an impressive set of abs just oozes the confidence and sex appeal that we all wish we had. We admire the fittest and healthiest people amongst us because we know just how hard it is to get into top physical shape, and what’s the most recognisable sign of fitness? Six pack abs. In this article I will reveal the fastest way to get them, but first let’s look at the mentality required.
When you are training, your ultimate aim is to “build the wall”. Don’t worry, I’m not saying the best way to workout is to build a wall, it’s a metaphor. If you had to build the great wall of China, it probably wouldn’t be good to just say “I’m goin to build the biggest and best wall the world has ever seen” and start laying bricks. Within 2 days you’ll have no motivation to get up and continue. Surely it’s a far better idea to take it one brick at a time. Think of your workouts as “bricks”. When you wake up each day, tell yourself that today you are going to lay the brick as perfectly as you can, to the best of your ability. Then follow that promise through. When it comes to your workout, do it to the best of your ability, when it comes to your diet then eat as perfectly as you can. You will have far more motivation and persistence if you look at it this way.
With that said, it’s time to reveal the fastest way to build impressive abs….. wait for it….. DON’T WASTE SO MUCH TIME FOCUSING SOLELY ON ABS EXERCISES! Seriously, that’s it. Although common sense tells us that focusing on stomach exercises will get us the abs we want, the truth is that you will reveal your abs much faster by focusing on overall fat burning exercises like:
Squats
Sprints
Deadlifts
Presses
Lunges…..
There are a myriad of ways. Remember that the best way to burn fat is to maximise the amount of movement your body is making during your workout, and the best way to do this is to focus on exercises that require full body movement WITH resistance, so free hand weights are far better than machines. I am not saying that you should never focus solely on your abs, in fact, it’s necessary that you DO implement some stomach based exercises into your routine, but these should not be your main focus. If you just remember these rules then I see no reason why you shouldn’t achieve a strong, ripped and toned body.
One last word on the importance of diet. Ever heard of the 80/20 rule? In basic terms it means that 20% of your actions will bring you 80% of your results. In our case it means that 80% of your results will come from DIET alone. The response I hear most (I’m almost as sick of hearing it as you are of being told to eat properly) is “I eat as healthy as I can but I still can’t shed that last bit of stomach fat” Well, bad news, I’m afraid you’re probably not eating as healthy as you think. Don’t think I’m questioning your commitment here, because the truth is it’s NOT YOUR FAULT. There are six pack destroyers hidden everywhere, even in the healthiest options on your plate that you probably don’t know about.
Giant food companies know how much our sweet tooth affects what we buy, and they hide six pack killers in everything from healthy cereal to salad dressings. This makes diet a complex subject, and one for a whole list of other articles, but for expert advice on what you should and shouldn’t be eating, feel free to stop by my website, sixpacksimple.com.
